WHAT THIS COURSE IS
A live, long-form course following the real-time development of a 17’×11’ architectural glass dome, shared by Narcissus Quagliata as the project unfolds. Participants witness the creative, technical, and conceptual decisions that shape a major architectural work—from inception to installation.
COURSE OVERVIEW
This course offers a rare opportunity to follow the real-time development of a monumental architectural glass project commissioned for a private client. Through monthly live Zoom sessions, Narcissus Quagliata shares the evolving process—from early concepts and design decisions to fabrication to installation, discussing the collaboration with architects, steel fabricators and glass artisans. Participants are invited into the uncertainties, challenges, and discoveries that define complex architectural works.
Rather than studying a completed project in retrospect, students live inside the process itself, gaining insight into architectural glass design, structure, materials, light, and creative decision-making at scale. With this course Narcissus will attempt to share all of his 50 years’ experience in making art for architecture and his daring use of glass as a medium.

Why This Course Is Unique
This is an open view into how an architectural glass work is invented, refined, and realized in real time.
- A live project, not a retrospective — even though key completed domes and architectural works will be revisited when they meaningfully inform the process.
- A long-form, process-driven course spanning the full life of a major work.
- The only time Narcissus will share a project in this way
- Non-repeatable by nature — this course will not be offered again
Who This Course Is For?
This course is intended for glass artists, designers, architects and artists in general interested in architectural projects. It is especially suited for those who want to understand how ideas develop over time, how creative and technical decisions are made, and how glass, light, and structure operate within real architectural contexts. The aim is to go in depth into the creative process itself.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need to attend every live session?
Live attendance is encouraged but not required. All sessions are recorded and made available to enrolled participants.
What if I miss a live session or join after the course has started?
If you miss a session—or enroll after the course begins—you will have access to all previous recordings and materials, allowing you to follow the project in full.
Will the course schedule or pace change as the project evolves?
The core live sessions are scheduled, however, since this course follows a real architectural project in real time, occasional additional pre-recorded content will be offered if the project’s evolution requires it.
How long will I have access to the course?
All participants receive two years of access to the full course recordings and materials, starting from the conclusion of the course.
Can I access the materials and recordings after two years?
After this period, continued access is available for $15 USD per month. Painting With Glass community members retain access through their active subscription.
What level of experience is recommended?
This course is best suited for intermediate to advanced students and professionals. It is not an introductory course.
Is this course technical or conceptual?
It is both. Technical considerations—such as structure, materials, fabrication, and installation—are explored alongside conceptual thinking, artistic decision-making, and the relationship between glass, light, and architectural space.
How is this course different from Narcissus’s previous courses?
Rather than reflecting on completed works, this course follows a single architectural glass project as it unfolds—from concept through realization and installation. Decisions are shared as they are made. This format is unique and will not be repeated.
Will participants be able to ask questions?
Yes. Each live session includes time for questions and open dialogue with Narcissus.
Are refunds available?
Due to the long-form and cumulative nature of the course, refunds are not available once the course has begun. We encourage interested participants to attend the free first session to determine whether the course is right for them.
